PANDEMIC DELAYS RELEASE OF LOSING ADDISON

Even in the best of times filmmaking is a long and involved process. While shooting can take only a matter of weeks, post-production—the sorting, selecting, adjusting, and combining of all the footage—can take months, at best, or even years. And while our post-production took us about two years, there are always other unforeseen circumstances that can arise and delay the release and distribution of a film.

Fast-forward to 2020. It wasn’t just the usual filmmakers’ woes that stopped us in our tracks. It was a worldwide pandemic that turned the planet upside down! Filmmaking—and most creative endeavors—had to take a backseat to literally saving the world. With the population under lockdowns and most non-essential businesses closed—including movie theaters—we put our planned release on hold indefinitely. We, of course, hoped the pandemic would be gone by 2021, but here we are, still in the throes of it.

Wanting to make the best use of our time, we decided to use the inevitable delay to recut the film’s opener and make a few other adjustments that had been on our wishlist back when the film was on a more aggressive schedule. And we are very happy with the results! The recut film, even in a beta cut, has already earned laurels in two film festivals: “Losing Addison” is an official selection in both the 2020 SoCal Film Awards and the Amsterdam World International Film Festival 2020!

As we join the rest of the nation and the world in wishing a speedy end to the tragedy of COVID, we will continue to submit our film to select festivals and to pursue distribution options that we deem most advantageous. Stay tuned for future news of the film’s premiere!
